VCS replaced an archaic heating system with two stacked 60,000 CFM units that provide heating and cooling. The units had to be built in place wall-by-wall, fan-by-fan, and coil-by-coil because of space restrictions.
The VCS team used creativity and ingenuity to build the units around structural beams and an old coal chute, sometimes with inches of clearance to spare. Then they built catwalks so that the units can be better maintained.
VCS also installed a Haakan rooftop unit with vestibule which allows maintenance and service to be completed without exposing workers to the elements.
